Little Rock, Arkansas (October 31, 2024) – Summit Utilities Arkansas (Summit) files 2024 winter cost of gas rates with the Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), and it’s the lowest winter season cost of gas since 2021, bringing welcome relief to Arkansas’ working families. The proposed cost of gas that residential customers will pay is $0.78 per ccf for their winter natural gas usage. This rate is lower than last year when the winter 2023 cost of gas was $0.79 per ccf. It is 36% less than the price of gas in winter 2022, which was $1.22 per ccf.
“Our team is committed to securing the lowest natural gas prices for our customers,” said Fred Kirkwood, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Summit. “For customers who may need assistance with their bills, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team to learn more about average monthly billing options and payment assistance programs designed to keep you and your family safe and warm.”
The APSC requires Summit to adjust its cost of gas on November 1 and April 1 of each year. Summit does not profit from the cost of natural gas delivered to its customers’ homes or businesses. The cost of gas is a passthrough cost not associated with Summit’s rate case pending before the APSC.
Summit offers Average Monthly Billing (AMB) plans, payment assistance, and energy efficiency programs to aid customers. Those looking for assistance can visit summitutilities.com/contact or call customer service from 7am to 7pm Monday-Friday at 800-992-7552.
