Summit Heating Assistance Fund Now Open for Winter 2023

Little Rock, Arkansas (November 8, 2023) – Summit Utilities (Summit) announces its Summit Heating Assistance fund application is officially open. This fund offers financial support to customers facing difficulties meeting their heating bill payments. Eligible customers are encouraged to apply for assistance to help pay past natural gas bills during the 2023 heating season.

“Summit Heating Assistance Fund comes from Summit and customers who generously opt-in to donate to the fund on their monthly bill,” said Fred Kirkwood, Chief Customer Experience officer for Summit. “We are only as strong as the communities we serve, and that is why we support our service areas by offering programs to help those in need.”

Heart of Arkansas United Way (HAUW) administers the Summit Heating Assistance Fund. The program can help qualified customers with up to $200 to pay past due bills between November 1 – March 29, 2024, or until the fund is depleted. Those interested in applying must show proof they are a Summit customer in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texarkana, Texas. Customers can show proof by providing the 12-digit account number, which is shown on Summit Utilities billing statement, located at the top corner right of the invoice. They must also have a copy of a past-due bill.

The Summit Heating Assistance fund cannot assist with making payments toward inactive accounts or any account that had been closed over 30 days. Provide payment assistance toward deposits, connect fees, etc. The person applying for heating assistance must be the same as the customer of record on the account.
