Summit Utilities, Inc. Recognizes October as Energy Awareness Month, October 4th as Energy Efficiency Day

Little Rock, Arkansas (October 4, 2023) – Summit Utilities, Inc. (Summit) is reminding customers October is National Energy Awareness Month and October 4th is Energy Efficiency Day. Energy efficiency is a great way to save money, reduce energy usage, and keep you and your family comfortable.

Summit has simple steps you can do to reduce your energy usage this fall:

  • Clear space around your registers so warm air can flow freely.
  • Close dampers on unused fireplaces, keep garage doors closed to prevent warm air from escaping and insulate around windows and doors to prevent air leaks & keep warm air inside.
  • Soak up the sun by opening curtains on your south-facing windows during the day and let the sunlight heat your home. Then, close them at night to reduce the incoming cold from drafty windows.
  • Turn down the temperature of your water heater to the warm setting (120°F).
  • Have a trained professional check your furnace annually to ensure your heating system is working at peak performance and efficiency.

In addition to these simple steps, there are payment and energy assistance programs offered in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Summit Utilities to support customers and reduce energy costs.

If you’re considering upgrading to a new natural gas furnace, water heater or installing a smart thermostat, Summit offers rebates to help you save money. To learn more about Summit’s energy efficiency program, visit SummitUtilities.com/Rebates.
