TEXARKANA, Ark. (Oct. 14, 2026) — Summit Utilities awarded $20,000 in community grants to four Texarkana-area nonprofit organizations Tuesday afternoon, honoring recipients at the company's Summit Cares Impact Celebration.

The event brought together local nonprofit leaders, community partners and Summit team members to recognize organizations advancing literacy, improving food access, supporting individuals with disabilities and enriching the community through arts and education. Through Summit Cares, Summit Utilities' giving program, the company invests in organizations that help meet essential needs and strengthen the communities it serves across its six-state footprint.

"Providing safe, reliable service is at the center of everything we do at Summit," said Greg Strickland, director of operations for Summit Utilities. "When we do our part to deliver the energy people count on and keep our communities safe, it frees organizations like these to do what they do best: care for the people and places we call home."

The 2026 Texarkana Summit Cares grant recipients included:

• Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties – $5,000
• East Texas Food Bank - Texarkana Resource Center – $5,000
• Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council – $5,000
• Texarkana Resources for the Disabled – $5,000

Each summer, Summit Cares invites eligible nonprofits to apply for funding to support programs that address essential community needs and align with Summit’s core giving pillars: basic human needs, STEAM education, community enrichment and environmental stewardship. In addition to grant funding, Summit team members are provided with paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to support their communities through volunteer service and local partnerships.

"Strong communities are built by people who show up for one another," Strickland said. "These organizations do that every day, and we're honored to support their work." To learn more about Summit Cares and Summit Utilities' broader community giving efforts, visit SummitUtilities.com/Community.
