Summit Utilities Awards $175,000 to 33 Arkansas Nonprofits Through Summit Cares

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 16, 2026) — Summit Utilities awarded $175,000 in community grants to nonprofit organizations across its Arkansas and Texarkana, TX service area Wednesday morning, honoring recipients at the company's Summit Cares Impact Celebration.

The event brought together grant recipients and Summit employees to recognize organizations working to address food insecurity, support youth and underserved populations, and strengthen communities throughout the region. Recipients represent a broad range of local nonprofits providing direct services to families and individuals in need across Summit's Arkansas footprint.

"Nonprofit organizations are the backbone of the communities we serve," said Kurt Adams, President and CEO of Summit Utilities. "Our part is to help them do more of what they already do so well."

Adams said Summit Cares reflects something deeper than a program — it's an expression of how the company shows up for the people and places it serves. Summit team members receive paid hours each year to volunteer locally, because the company believes that being a true neighbor means putting in the time, not just the effort.

"We're not just a utility that runs pipes," Adams said. "We're a neighbor, and neighbors show up for each other."

The grants were awarded through Summit Cares, the company’s community giving program across its service territories. Eligible nonprofits applied for funding to support programs that address essential community needs and align with Summit’s core giving pillars: basic human needs, STEAM education, community enrichment and environmental stewardship.

"Giving back is an important part of who we are at Summit," Adams said. "When we look around at the organizations doing this work — feeding families, supporting kids, lifting up the people who need it most — we're reminded of why we do what we do."
