LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (March 17, 2023) –Summit Utilities Arkansas (Summit) participated in Keep Little Rock Beautiful 14th Annual Citywide Cleanup on March 10th, 2023.
A group of 27 Summit team members in the Little Rock area gathered to clean a portion of the Fourche Creek Wetlands within Interstate Park.
Summit was joined by Friends of Fourche Creek Vice Chair and Keep Little Rock Beautiful Board member Norm Berner. Summit team members spent their time wading through mud, navigating the creek, and collecting a total of 952 lbs of trash.
“Not only does this volunteer event highlight our commitment to our communities, but it is also aligned with our efforts to be a good environmental steward. Summit is proud to participate in enhancing the beauty of our city and helping protect our environment,” said Keith Kittinger, Vice President of Operations at Summit.
According to the City of Little Rock, approximately 75 percent of Little Rock's drainage ends up at the Fourche, home to nearly 50 species of fish and other wildlife.
This volunteer opportunity for team members of Summit Utilities Arkansas was made possible by Summit’s volunteer time off program. This program provides team members up to 20 hours a year of paid time off to volunteer in their communities.
