Summit Utilities Recognizes Energy Awareness Month

At Summit Utilities, providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy solutions to our valued customers is our top priority. In honor of Energy Awareness Month, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you of simple steps you can take to reduce your energy usage, save money, and stay comfortable.

Simple steps to reduce energy usage this fall:

  • Clear space around your registers so warm air can flow freely.
  • Close dampers on unused fireplaces, keep garage doors closed to prevent warm air from escaping, and insulate around windows and doors to prevent air leaks & keep warm air inside.
  • Soak up the sun by opening curtains on your south-facing windows during the day and let the sunlight heat your home. Then, close them at night to reduce the incoming cold from drafty windows.
  • Turn down the temperature of your water heater to the warm setting (120°F).
  • Have your furnace checked annually by a trained professional to ensure your heating system is working at peak performance and efficiency.

In addition to these simple steps, there are payment and energy assistance programs offered in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Summit Utilities to support customers and reduce energy costs. If you’re considering upgrading to a new natural gas furnace, water heater or installing a smart thermostat, we also offer rebates to help you save money.

Stay warm and stay safe.
