Beat the Heat: Tips to Stay Comfortable in the Summer Sun

How to Stay Safe & Cool in the Summer Heat
We all know the sun’s warm embrace can beckon us outdoors for fun and relaxation. But in the heat of the summer, it's important to know how to stay cool while safely enjoying the sun. Whether you’re doing yard work, lounging poolside, hiking, biking, or enjoying a round of golf, it’s key to prioritize safety. That’s why we’ve compiled some essential tips to help you and your loved ones safely enjoy the sunny, warmer seasons. When the summer sun is scorching, be sure to:

  • Stay hydrated: Be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after sun exposure.
  • Dress appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing.
  • Watch the clock: If possible, try to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours (usually between 10 am and 4 pm)
  • Seek shade: Temperatures in shady areas tend to me much lower (and feel cooler) than being in direct sunlight.
  • Wear sunscreen: Apply a strong SPF sunscreen generously and often. Also consider a sun hat to protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
  • Stay informed: Stay up-to-date with the weather, especially if there are summer storms or extreme heat waves in the forecast.
Summer is a wonderful season for relaxing, enjoying time with family and friends, and creating lasting memories. But it’s essential to prioritize safety! By following the tips above, you can safely enjoy summer to its fullest.
