We believe it’s our responsibility to provide safe and reliable energy solutions with a commitment to customers and the communities we serve. We know the cost of gas significantly impacts every family and business we serve. We are confident our bills accurately reflect the commodity cost approved by our regulators.

As a utility, Summit does not profit from the cost of gas. Our customers pay what we pay.
  • We are required to adjust the cost of gas on November 1 and April 1 of every year through a filing with the Arkansas Public Service Commission, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, and the Texas Railroad Commission.
  • While markets remain volatile, we are pleased to report that since our most recent filing on April 1, 2023, your cost of gas has come down.
  • To learn more about Summit's April 2023 reduction in the cost of gas, click here.
Additionally, we’ve listened to your frustrations and feedback over the past several months and are making improvements to our billing and customer experience platforms to serve you, our valued customers, better. Please take a moment to watch this important video from our CEO, Kurt Adams, as he addresses the cost of gas and the improvements we’ve made since we began caring for your communities.

Understanding Your Bill

Understanding the charges on your monthly bill can help you feel confident and knowledgeable about the elements that make up your bill. For example, did you know that the Gas Supply Rate (or GSR) is the cost of the gas you're using and is a direct pass-through? Summit Utilities does not earn profit from supply prices.

Payment Assistance

Just as the price for food and other day-to-day products are on the rise, the cost of energy has increased. At Summit Utilities, we realize our customers are facing challenges because of these rising costs. If you are struggling to pay your natural gas bill, we may be able to help. State, federal, and area low-income assistance providers can aid our qualifying customers that need a little help.

Take control of your winter heating bills with Average Monthly Billing!

Winter heating bills can often be a source of worry for many households, but we can help alleviate some of the stress by enrolling your residential account on an Average Monthly Billing (AMB) plan. Enrollment is free!

Switching to Summit’s Average Monthly Billing plan helps to make payments for your heating bills more predictable and manageable by spreading the cost out over the year. This will not reduce your annual heating cost, but it will help you budget by billing the average amount each month based on the last 12 rolling months.

The "Why" Behind High Natural Gas Prices

It’s important to note that Summit does not make a profit off the cost of natural gas delivered to your home or business. The price of natural gas is passed through to customers at cost and appears on your bill as the “Gas Supply Rate.” You pay what we pay for the cost of the natural gas you use.
