Summit Utilities Oklahoma Commits to Helping Oklahomans with Hunger Relief

LAWTON, Oklahoma (January 13, 2023)On December 20, 2022 Summit Utilities Oklahoma (Summit) committed to supporting the Oklahomans with hunger relief with a $5,000 donation to the Lawton Food Bank. This donation will help fund the Lawton Food Bank’s mission to provide kid-friendly food to children in the area that are facing food insecurity while school is out for the holiday break.

In addition to the $5,000 charitable donation to the Lawton Food Bank, Summit also donated approximately $1,000 worth of non-perishable, kid-friendly, food items in support of the Lawton Food Bank’s food drive.

As a community-oriented company, Summit strives to be a good community partner and neighbor. Summit’s steadfast commitment to safety for the communities we serve makes giving to the Lawton Food Bank ideal. Summit is honored to be a part of the mission of this non-profit, helping people address their greatest needs.

In addition to supporting community causes, Summit also provides members of its team with up to 20 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in the communities it serves.

About the Lawton Food Bank:

The Lawton Food Bank was established on August 1, 1985, by Carter and Marilyn Crane. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a proud partner agency of the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

The Lawton Food Bank provides food and other items to low-income residents of southwest Oklahoma. In 2021, the Lawton Food Bank gave 879,180 pounds of food to 16,993 families. It has also provided 204 boxes to prequalified seniors each month.

Summit Utilities Inc. (SUI) finalized its acquisition of CenterPoint Energy’s distribution assets in Arkansas, Oklahoma and the Texarkana, Texas area on January 10, 2022.
