LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 6, 2022) – Summit Utilities Arkansas and Summit Utilities Oklahoma (Summit) are celebrating National Customer Service Week, which runs from Monday, October 3 through Friday, October 7, 2022. Summit will celebrate the importance of providing quality customer service, as well as the Summit team members who serve and support customers daily.

“Customer Service Week is a great opportunity to thank our customers and show our ongoing commitment to providing them with clean, safe, affordable and reliable energy solutions,” said Fred Kirkwood, Senior Vice President & Chief Customer Experience Officer at Summit. “Providing excellent customer service is the backbone of who we are and the work that we do. Our team members have been working hard to ensure our upcoming transition from CenterPoint operations and services is a smooth one. Summit looks forward to taking care of our customers from our new local-based call center.”

Throughout the week, Summit will celebrate, in part, by spotlighting customer service team members on Facebook and LinkedIn.

National Customer Service Week occurs the first week of October. It was proclaimed a national event by the U.S. Congress in 1992. National Customer Service Week activities have far-reaching effects in October and throughout the year. There are two main purposes of National Customer Service Week – 1) it lets organizations recognize the job that their customer service professionals do 52 weeks a year and 2) it conveys the importance of customer service as a critical component in running a business or government entity.

Background on Summit Utilities, Inc.’s Recent Acquisition:

Summit closed its acquisition of CenterPoint Energy’s distribution assets in Arkansas, Oklahoma and the Texarkana, Texas area on January 10, 2022. The gas distribution systems included in the transaction serve approximately 525,000 customers in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and include 17,000 miles of gas main pipeline across those three states. As part of the acquisition, Summit has welcomed nearly 600 former CenterPoint team members to the company.

Throughout 2022, Summit and CenterPoint have worked together to migrate all operations and services to Summit. During this transition period, CenterPoint continues to provide certain services to customers on behalf of Summit including aspects of billing, customer support and marketing.
